Dr. Gregory V. Callanan, DO is an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in complex and comprehensive adult spine surgery. He grew up in Toms River, NJ and received his bachelor’s degree from Monmouth University. Dr. Callanan went on to attend Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical school training.

After medical school, Dr. Callanan completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Rowan University-Inspira Health Network. In 2022, he served as Chief Orthopedic Resident and received the Program Award for outstanding performance on the orthopedic training examination. In addition, throughout his training he participated in numerous research investigations and published articles pertaining to cervical disc replacement and complex cervical spine surgery.

Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Gregory V. Callanan, DO completed a fellowship in complex and comprehensive adult spine surgery in Philadelphia at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. There he received training from some of the top surgeons in the nation in the field of spine surgery. Dr. Callanan also presented at national conferences on topics such as minimally invasive spine surgery and adult spine deformity correction. Additionally, during his training, Dr. Callanan participated in University of Pennsylvania’s Caribbean Global Outreach Program where he travelled to Trinidad alongside Penn Faculty to perform complex spinal deformity and scoliosis surgery.

Dr. Callanan specializes in adult degenerative conditions of the spine, artificial disc replacement, cervical disc herniation, cervical decompression, cervical degenerative disc disease, cervical fusion, cervical radiculopathy, cervical myelopathy, cervical spondylosis, minimally invasive spine surgery, motion preserving spine surgery, lumbar disc herniation, lumbar decompression, lumbar degenerative disc disease, lumbar fusion, lumbar radiculopathy, lumbar spondylosis, and lumbar spondylolisthesis.

Dr. Callanan is passionate about health and wellbeing. He is an avid surfer, snowboarder, and jiu jitsu practitioner. He enjoys spending time with his family and travelling.
